In the ACC U-19 Asia Cup, Nepal has been defeated for the second time in a row. Nepal lost by 73 runs against Afghanistan on Sunday.

Chasing the target of 262 runs given by Afghanistan, Nepal was bowled out for 188 runs in 40.1 overs.

Arjun Kumal, the opening batsman for Nepal, did an excellent batting but could not give Nepal a win. Arjun added 91 runs before being dismissed as the last wicket. He hit 13 fours in 108 balls.

Nepal lost two consecutive wickets in the 19th over. Uttam Magar was out for 4 runs in 18.3 overs and Akash Tripathi was out for nil after two balls. Both were caught LBW by Afghanistan’s Marukhi. Similarly, Gulsan Jha and Dipesh Kandel were dismissed for 11 runs, while Subhas Bhandari was dismissed for 8 and Hemant Dhami returned to the pavilion for zero.

Before that, captain Dev Khanal got out after scoring 24 runs. He hit 1 boundary in 37 balls.

Nepal lost two wickets within seven overs. Opening batsman Bipin Rawal was caught behind the wicket on the fourth ball of the first over off the bowling of Faroodon. Similarly, in 6.1 overs, Deepak Bohra was dismissed for 15 runs off 13 balls. He was also dismissed by Farooq’s own ball.

Afghanistan’s Farudoon and Marukhi took 3 wickets each in bowling.

After winning the toss at ICC Oval-2 in Dubai on Sunday, Nepal chose to field and Afghanistan, who batted first, scored 261 runs in 49.3 overs.
Afghanistan’s Jamshed Zardan scored a century. He added 106 runs before retiring in the last over. He hit 8 fours in 152 balls.

Jamseed shared an 81-run partnership with Rahimullah Jurmati for the fourth wicket. That partnership was broken by Nepal’s Dipesh Kandel. Before he was caught by Subas Bhandari in the last ball of the 28th over, Rahimullah added 35 runs in 65 balls with the help of 2 fours.

Along with Rahimullah, Numan Shah also shared a 97-run partnership with Jamsid to increase Afghanistan’s score. Numan scored 60 runs in 41 balls with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes.

Afghanistan’s Khalil Ahmed was dismissed for 13 runs and captain Naseer Khan for 4 runs.

Before that, Hemant Dhami took two consecutive wickets in the seventh over. He took the wickets of Akram Mohammadzai in the third ball of the seventh over and Khalid Taniwal in the fourth ball. Khalid 10 and Akram Mohammadzai were dismissed for zero runs.

Afghanistan’s opener Wafiullah Tarakhil was dismissed by Nepal’s Gulsan Jha in the second over. He hit 2 fours and 1 six in 9 balls.

In bowling, Nepal’s Hemant Dhami, Subas Bhandari and Gulsan Jha took 2 wickets each. Akash Chand and Dipesh Kandel took 1 wicket each.

Nepal lost to Pakistan by 7 wickets in the first match and Afghanistan also lost to India by 7 wickets.

Now Nepal will play against India in the last match of the group on Tuesday.

In the ongoing tournament consisting of 8 countries, Nepal, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan are in Group ‘A’ while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, UAE and Japan are in Group ‘B’.

The top two teams from the two groups will advance to the semi-finals. The two teams that won the semi-finals will play for the ACC U-19 Asia Cup title on December 17.
