In a thought-provoking endeavor to address a pressing public health concern, the Leo Club of Kathmandu University and the Legal Research Society Nepal joined forces to organize a national webinar on “Suicide Prevention and Legal Considerations.” Held on September 10, 2023, the event aimed to empower attendees with insights into the complex relationship between mental health, legal responsibilities, and ethical obligations within Nepal.The webinar featured an esteemed panel of experts, each contributing their expertise to the dialogue:

Advocate Surendra Tiwari: A distinguished legal expert renowned for his contributions to suicide prevention legislation and legal frameworks within Nepal.

Dr. Basudev Karki: A prominent psychologist with extensive experience in suicide risk assessment and intervention, specializing in Nepal’s unique context.

Mr. Madhav Khatiwada: A passionate counselor of Kathmandu University for mental health awareness.

The event provided a platform for participants from diverse backgrounds, including mental health professionals, legal experts, educators, policymakers, and concerned citizens, to engage in a meaningful dialogue.
